The name “Hudson” came from J.L. Hudson, a Detroit department store entrepreneur and founder of Hudson’s Department Store. Mr. Hudson along with 7 other business men banded together to create the Hudson Motor Car Company in 1909.

Fast forward a few decades to 1984 when a man by the name of Travis Bryant decided to build a restaurant that utilized that same basic business philosophies that is Hudson’s Motor Car Company did. A philosophy that is based on quality products, pride in workmanship and care for the customer. This is the same concept we have crafted and molded over the last 20 years to provide our guest with the most excellent and fine tuned Hudson’s experience.

Since 1999 Hudson’s Classic Grill and Bar of Marquette has enjoyed continuing to grow and thrive, serving the community by being a staple of the U.P. featuring amazing food as well as a proud supporter of Northern Michigan University and many other local organizations.

Hudson's is Part of the Superior Oasis Family of Business

The Superior Oasis Family of Businesses began in 1980 with Frank and Linda Stabile purchasing what was then the Westwood Motel. By 1985 Frank and Linda had helped in establishing the Marquette County Convention and Visitor’s Bureau. In 1987, a substantial redesign of the Westwood Motel property paved the way for the Days Inn of Marquette and on July 1, 1989, the Days Inn of Marquette had officially opened in Marquette MI.

In addition to her serving on the Marquette CVB, Linda Stabile was also instrumental in the growth of the Upper Peninsula Travel and Recreation Association (UPTRA). She is the longest serving member on the Board of Directors, having served as the VP of Marketing and President.

In August of 1994, work began on the Comfort Suites of Marquette, further expanding the Superior Oasis family of businesses. Choice Hotels has honored the property with their prestigious Platinum Award in 2016 and 2017, placing it among the Top 3% of all Choice Hotels.

The Hudson’s Classic Grill and Bar was added to the family in 1999, bringing the first themed restaurant and bar of its kind to Marquette Michigan. The 200 seat bar and grill is just foot-steps from the Days Inn of Marquette and the Comfort Suites of Marquette.

In 2004, Frank and Linda began construction on the Timber Creek Steakhouse, a 145 seat steak and seafood restaurant. In 2007, the Timber Creek Steakhouse was branded a Perkins Restaurant & Bakery. The restaurant was closed in April of 2016 to make way for the construction of a My Place hotel on the same site. The Economy, Extended Stay property is the hottest new brand in its segment and Opened in March of 2017.

The focus of family is prevalent in every aspect of Frank and Linda’s business philosophy. For over 30 years they have operated in the same location, cultivating strong businesses that serve the Marquette area and travelers to the area. Superior Oasis truly is your home away from home and just moments away from all the great things that Marquette County has to offer.
